24 Hours of Daytona Update

Daybreak at Daytona saw the pair of Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italias battling for the lead of the GT-Daytona class. GT-Daytona: With six hours remaining in the 24 Hours at Daytona, Jeff Segal was behind the wheel of the no. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia in second position in GT-D, while Marcos Gomes was in fourth position in the no. 64 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia. The Scuderia Corsa Ferraris are two of the four cars on the lead lap in GT-D. The two cars had enjoyed trouble-free runs during the overnight hours with both taking turns at the lead of the class. Ferrari Victorious Again at Indianapolis

For the second straight season, a Ferrari 458 Italia crossed the world-famous yard of bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in first position. Friday evening’s Brickyard Grand Prix saw the no. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia go from a starting position of ninth in the GT-Daytona class to first at the drop of the checkered flag. Starting driver Jeff Westphal advanced as high as first place, before Alessandro Balzan took the Ferrari to the checkered flag, scoring their second win of the season. The win is the tenth for the Ferrari 458 in North American endurance racing, and the third in this season’s United SportsCar Championship. Laguna Seca: United SportsCar Championship

The pair of United SportsCar Championship races on Sunday at Laguna Seca witnessed strong performances by the teams driving the Ferrari 458 Italia. The day’s second race, which featured the Prototype and GT-Le Mans classes, saw the no. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia finish a fighting third position. Drivers Pierre Kaffer and Giancarlo Fisichella started from the back of the field after changing tires after qualifying, negating their qualifying time. Kaffer made several positions during the opening stint, and strategy by the Risi Competizione team allowed Fisichella to lead the race in the second hour. Although he was forced off track in two instances in the closing stages of the race, Fisichella finished the race in third position behind Magnussen and Garcia’s Chevrolet and Priaulx and Auberlen’s BMW.
