International GT Open: Race 2 (Spoilers)

A one-two finish and two other podium placings for Ferrari in the second race of the International GT Open Championship held at the legendary Nurburgring circuit. The one-two came in the GTS race, with the two podiums in the Super GT category. In this class, victory went, like the previous day, to Chevrolet, but this time it was one entered by the Belgian Selleslagh Racing teams in the hands of local hero Maxime Soulet and the Dutchman Nick Catsburg, who finished third yesterday. Second overall, as in race 1, was the SMP Racing-Russian Bears Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, in the hands of Italy’s Daniel Zampieri and the Russian Roman Mavlanov, who were also the first GT3 crew to take the flag. An all-Ferrari top three in Super GT and a further podium in the GTS class in the first race of the International GT Open championship at Germany’s Nurburgring circuit. There had been hope of better in the early stages of the Super GT battle, as the early leader was the experienced Andrea Montermini in Scuderia Villorba Corse’s Ferrari 458 Italia GT3. However, when it came time for the pit stops to switch dirvers, quickest was the Chevrolet crew of Puerto Rico’s Miguel Ramos and Nicky Pastorelli, who managed to take the lead at half distance, mainly due to a great drive from the Italo-Dutchman.
