“Lunchtime at Monza” – Klemantaski Collection

In this wonderful photographic composition it is time for lunch in the Monza paddock during practice for the 1955 Italian Grand Prix. The Ferrari mechanics are sitting on two of the Lancia D50s which had been turned over to Ferrari on July 26th with the closing of the Lancia F1 effort and the sale of the company. It is interesting to note that here on September 10th the D50s still bear the Lancia nose badges, but also wear the Scuderia Ferrari shields on their sides. Car n. 4 was probably destined for Eugenio Castellotti. Also worth noting is that the Lancias are now fitted with Englebert tires from Ferrari’s Belgian tire supplier, although the Lancia F1 team had used Pirellis. In this lay a story. Italia GT Championship: Monza

Following the great debut in Vallelunga, the Italian GT Championship will make it to the track this weekend in Monza for the second round of the season with five more lineups joined increasing the number of cars on track in the two races of GT3 and GT Cup to 40. The Ferraris 458 Italia will be the cars to beat in the highest class, starting from the Scuderia Baldini 27 one that is leading the standings with Casè-Gattuso, but a lot of other cars from Maranello are in the top half of the classification. Among these, the car driven by Schirò and Berton (Scuderia Villorba Corse), Frassineti-Beretta of Ombra Racing, the team that will field another car for Cipriani-Tedeschi, Di Amato-Mugelli (MP1 Corse), Magli-Ferrara (Easy Race), and those of Team Malucelli driven by Bontempelli-Gai and Galassi-Rizzuto. 2015 Blancpain GT Series Most Competitive Yet

In the Blancpain Endurance Series, no fewer than 56 cars are heading for the first race in Monza, on April 12th, with 16 of them being Ferrari GT3s. The PRO-AM Cup of the Blancpain Endurance Series can count on an excellent variety of GT3 cars among the 22 entered for the 2015 season. Scuderia Villorba Corse will do their utmost to defend their title, but they are not the only ones to put their trust in the redoubtable Ferrari 458 Italia. No fewer than nine 458s will grace the Pro-Am Cup grids this year. Italian GT Championship: Ferrari Wins the Constructor’s Title

Ferrari has won the Constructors’ title in the Italian GT championship. The Maranello marque had already done enough to win before this weekend, but the title was officially assigned today, at the last race of the season. Ferrari’s success is down to the great job from those teams that chose to run the 458 Italia GT3 in the series. They scored 379 points, against 210 for Porsche and 200 for Audi. Drivers: up in the air. The Drivers’ crown should also have been decided today, but it’s actually sub judice, because of an incident in race 2. However, let’s look back at events in Monza from the beginning. All Ferrari Podium at Monza in International GT Open GTS

Monza proved a happy hunting ground for Ferrari, in the penultimagte round of the GT Open series. In race 2, Ferrari runners managed a clean sweep of the podium. Winning the junior GTS division was the SMP Racing Ferrari 458 Italia of Viacheslav Maleev and José M. Pérez Aicart, They crossed the line ahead of the AF Corse number 79 car of Nikita Zlobin and Luca Persiani and the similar Ombra Racing car driven by Stefano Costantini e Lorenzo Bontempelli. In the Super GT category, the overall win in the second race of the weekend went to the Chevrolet Corvette, driven by Miguel Ramos and Nicky Pastorelli.
