Ferrari Chassis List for Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015

Posted by on Jul 16, 2015

There were many Ferraris this year at the Festival of Speed, many on display but several notable ones taking to the run up the hill at Goodwood, to the delight of the massive crowds. The Cartier Style et Luxe Concours has become a fixture at the event, providing some glamour, if glamour was ever needed at Goodwood House. And the Supercar display has grown nicely, mostly from the efforts of the local Ferrari importer – Ferrari North Europe. The neatest response was for cars for the F1 Paddock, with no less than seven of these rare Ferraris for presentation. We say rare because there were not many made, and also because they are so refined that keeping these thoroughbreds running can be a challenge – many do not come out any more, unless for something special, like Goodwood. Ambiance at the Goodwood Revival 2014

Posted by on Sep 19, 2014

The huge weekend of September 12-14 has come and gone, as we noted in a previous post, and for three days, mammoth crowds watched some really great classic car races. But the cars aren’t the only attraction. Many years ago, the Revival instituted a “dress code” for the paddock, whereby entry was gained if you dressed up in period costume, notably in dress worn during the circuit’s heyday from 1948 to 1966. This proved very popular and soon spread to the spectator areas. The Goodwood Revival even published a manual on the correct dress, so you would not feel left out. This has caught everyone’s imagination, and now all sorts of scenes and tableaux are being reenacted, adding to the charm of the event. We thank Keith Bluemel for sharing his images with all of you, images of “the...

Ferraris at the Goodwood Revival 2014

Posted by on Sep 19, 2014

The huge weekend of September 12-14 has come and gone, and it was a exciting as always. For three days, huge crowds can watch classic race cars actually race, and around a classic race track no less (and where some of these cars actually raced themselves). The races are held for the types of cars and motorcycles that have competed, or would have competed, during the circuit’s heyday from 1948 to 1966. That includes a lot of Ferraris, and many were present up against their former foes. And they do actually race! Incidents are not uncommon, as caution goes with the wind as the competitive spirit come up. In Europe, the feeling is – if you can’t race, then why take these cars on the track at all. The fun of it too is that many famous drivers are...

Goodwood Revival Heralds Fall Events

Posted by on Sep 4, 2014

“This year’s event, on September 12-14, will offer an action-packed weekend of historic motor racing and period theatre for all the family, as always – with much more besides – mouth-watering grids, scintillating on-track action, and a number of significant anniversaries to celebrate.” The Goodwood Revival is different from the preceding Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the action here being at racing speeds among like-minded drivers and historically-matched cars, all on an actual circuit, and a famous one at that. The concept is to “revive” an era long gone, and one that may never have happened in actuality but only in the memories of those who were there, and those who read about them. The races invite those cars that raced in the era from 1948 to 1966, when the Goodwood circuit was open and in its prime. There...

Yesterday, on the opening day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Ferrari unveiled its new, spectacular, California T which brims with a host of new solutions, not least of which is its 8-cylinder turbo engine. Maranello’s engineers have created an entirely new power unit which delivers absolutely superb levels of performance, blistering pick-up and the most exhilarating soundtrack any turbo has ever yielded. The California T retains its predecessor’s versatility, with a folding hardtop, 2+2 seating and up to 320 litres of luggage space, making it one of the most practical Ferrari cars which appeals to a wider audience than ever before. Fans of Ferrari’s traditional mid-engined V8 extreme sports cars were also treated to a sonic feast with the 458 Speciale also making its official UK debut at Goodwood, giving an exhilarating demonstration of its capabilities to the...

Strong Ferrari Presence at the Festival of Speed

Posted by on Jun 26, 2014

This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed gets underway tomorrow, one of the most important gatherings in the world of racing and sports cars of every time. This year, the main theme of the event held in Sussex, England, is the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of John Surtees taking the Formula 1 World Championship crown. To this day, Surtees is the only driver to have been world champion on two wheels (in 1956, ’58, ’59 and ’60) and four, in 1964. A lot of current drivers are taking part, including, from the world of Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton, former Ferrari man Felipe Massa and current Scuderia Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen. In fact, the Finn will share centre stage at the key moment of the weekend, as he will tackle the Goodwood hill at the wheel of the Ferrari F2007,...

Ferrari at the Heart of Goodwood

Posted by on Jun 26, 2014

This weekend will see Ferrari at the heart of one of the most eagerly-awaited motor racing events of the year, the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The enthusiasts and spectators at Goodwood will be treated to the sight of Maranello’s newest cars, including the new V8 turbo California T, the 458 Speciale powered by the naturally-aspirated V8 just named Best Performance Engine 2014, and the F12berlinetta, which recently won the prestigious ADI Compasso d’Oro design prize. Ferrari’s road cars aside, there will also be plenty of action from the Scuderia Ferrari’s single-seaters and their drivers. Pedro de la Rosa, in fact, will be negotiating Goodwood’s famous hillclimb in the F60, while Kimi Räikkönen is the special guest at the celebrations for the 50th anniversary celebrations of John Surtees’ F1 World title organised by Shell for Sunday, 29th. The two drivers...
