Dragon Speed Enters the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series

DragonSpeed’s 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series effort will benefit from the return to the cockpit of team principal Elton Julian alongside Swedish racer Henrik Hedman. Now, the Florida-based team’s top priority will be to fill the third seat in its Ferrari 458 GT3 Blancpain Endurance Series entry for next year. Following two years as a frontrunner in the Ferrari Challenge North America, culminating in a victory at the World Finals last November, Hedman has impressed many in his maiden Pirelli World Challenge season. Julian enjoyed considerable success in a driving career which started in single-seaters. Ferrari Wins Class at Spa 24 Hours

In it’s 90th year, the classic Spa 24 Hours has been won by Audi Belgium WRT with their R8. Overall victory was suspected to be won by one of the PRO teams (professional driver teams) so chances where low for Ferrari to win the title as the 19 entered 458 GT3’s started in PRO-AM and GENTLEMEN. After a race with lots of incidents and even a few drivers being taken to hospital after heavy crashes in the high speed Eau Rouge and Blanchimont corners, the #53 AF Corse Ferrari of Bertolini/Hommerson/Machiels/Cioci wins PRO-AM (fourth in a row for Ferrari) ahead of the #79 Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4. Third in PRO-AM is another Ferrari, the #52 AF Corse of Lowndes/Wyatt/Rugolo/Piccini. These top three PRO-AM cars finished sixth, seventh and eighth in the overall classification. Blancpain Endurance Series: A Host of Ferraris

This weekend’s round of the Blancpain Endurance Series is one of the most prestigious races in motor sport, the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours. The race was first held in 1924, which was held on the old 14 kilometre track and won by Frenchmen Henri Springuel and Maurice Becquet, at the wheel of a Bignan 2l at an average speed of 78.3 km/h. Blancpain Endurance Series: 13 Ferraris on Track

There will be 13 Ferraris on track this weekend for the third round of the Blancpain Endurance Series, which takes place at the French Paul Ricard circuit. Ferraris feature in two of the three categories, the Pro-Am Cup and the Gentlemen Trophy. In the Pro-Am Cup, the Ferrari 458 GT3 to keep an eye on is the Scuderia Villorba Corse car, which is third in the standings and will be going for the win this weekend, in the hands of Andrea Rizzoli, Stefano Gai and Francesco Castellacci. However, it won’t be easy to beat stiff competition from the ROAL Motorsport BMW and the RJN Team Nissan. Blancpain Endurance Series Opener Results

There were two wins for Ferrari in the opening round of the Blancpain Endurance Series. The outright win went to the ART Grand Prix McLaren driven by Gregoire Demoustier, Alexandre Premat and Alvaro Parente, while Ferrari took victory in the Pro-Am Cup and the Gentlemen Trophy. AF Corse’s number 50 car won the Pro-Am Cup with Andrew Danyliw, Simon Knap e Andrea Sonvico driving to eighth place overall, thus beating the Roal Motorsport BMW Z4 and the Pro GT by Almeras Porsche 997 GT3 R. Celebrating in the Gentlemen Trophy were Pierre Ehret, Alexander Mattschul and Frank Schmikler, in car number 458 entered by GT Corse by Rinaldi, which finished 16th overall, outclassing the opposition putting a lap between itself and the second placed AF Corse Ferrari number 49 of Jan Marc Bachelier, Yannick Mallegol and Howard Blank. Kessel Racing: Blancpain Endurance Series

After fighting for the Pro Cup title until the final round of the Blancpain Endurance Series 2013, Swiss squad Kessel Racing intends to stay among the frontrunners this year and will enter two Ferrari 458 Italia GT3s. One of the cars of the Lugano based team will participate in the Pro-Am Trophy and will be driven by Polish driver Michal Broniszewski and Italian Giacomo Petrobelli. The latter finished third in the 2012 Pro-Am Trophy of the Blancpain Endurance Series.
