TRACK WORKOUT, PART I

BY KEITH BLUEMEL

Tuesday and Wednesday gave a limited number of pre-booked owners the opportunity to participate with their Ferraris and Maseratis in private test sessions, with qualified instructors on hand, at Moroso Motorsports Park, a few miles inland from Palm Beach. Here they could enjoy plentiful laps of the demanding track with its tricky twisty section, long straights and seemingly never ending 180 degree final turn onto the start/finish straight.

With the modern traffic constraints of speed limits and congestion, the popularity of these private track days, where people can unleash the power of their machines with everybody theoretically traveling in the same direction, are proving to be increasingly popular. This proved to be the case at Moroso, as both days were fully subscribed, and fortunately common sense prevailed, with the sessions passing off without any untoward incidents of body or scenery contact. The days, and the drivers, were expertly watched over by Bill Adam, who has won every long distance race of consequence, including the Daytona 24 Hours, Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen, Road America, and the Sebring 12 Hour twice!

The variety of Ferraris at Moroso was extensive, a credit to the owners who came from all parts of the country, as well as from Europe.
