FERARRIS AND JETS IN REVIEW
BY KEITH BLUEMEL
The Tour of Palm Beach on Thursday afternoon, for those who wanted a more relaxed form of driving than the track, finished as per usual at one of the social highlights of the Cavallino Classic, this being the extremely popular Thursday evening “Jet Party” in one of Jet Aviation’s hangars at Palm Beach International Airport. Here, as noted previously, one can sip champagne, nibble on canapés, and admire a fine array of Ferraris sharing the tarmac with a select array of stunning private jets and historic aircraft, as the sun sinks slowly in the west, giving everything an orange glow – surreal! Each attendee is provided with a card on which to vote for their favorite Ferrari in attendance. This year the visitor’s choice went to the exotic 750 Monza, s/n 0502 M, of Bruce Perrone, who was presented with his award by Piero Ferrari himself, and by a surprise guest, ex-Ferrari F1 driver Eddie Irvine.
We wish to thank Theo Staub, President and CEO of Jet Aviation, for helping with the presentations, but mainly for hosting such an enjoyable party, one that has now become the hot ticket of the weekend. As this gathering has a relatively early finish, a number of individuals and groups organize private parties, one of the most popular and sought after being that of Jeffrey and Frances Fisher at “The Classic Stable,” where a good time is guaranteed for all amidst his classic collection, in a beautiful converted cigar warehouse decorated in a motor sport theme by noted artist Tony Lauro.
