Sunday was an invitation day at the Palm Beach International Concours at the Palm Beach Polo Club, where those participants who wanted to stay a little longer in the Florida sun could enjoy a relaxed day at the multi-marque concours, away from the pressures of concours or race preparation. The second running of this event once again produced a wonderful array of some amazing machinery. Apart from a number of Ferraris from the Classic, there was a fine assembly of unusual and exotic vehicles on display. One of the rarest and most unusual of which was the very art deco 1936 Stout Scarab, which attracted a great deal of interest with its unusual styling, which was very advanced for the time. Another rarity was one of the original Corvette Grand Sport models, which looked spectacular in its blue and yellow Sunoco racing livery, whilst also very attractive in yellow and red paintwork were a duo of Porsche sports racing models, a 908 Spider and a 917 Can-Am car. Other eye catching performance cars included a lurid orange Plymouth “Superbird” and a BMW M1 in the company’s traditional racing colors with matching upholstery.

If luxury was more your style, there was a DuPont roadster with a beautiful Lalique crystal mascot, an extremely elegant duotone blue Talbot Lago convertible, a 1959 Cadillac convertible, and a Rolls- Royce Silver Wraith station wagon.

The day concluded with a Gooding & Company auction, with a fine selection of machinery on offer, including an ex-Gilles Villeneuve Ferrari 312 T5 F1 car, and a delectable Talbot-Lago T150 C SS Figoni & Falaschi bodied Teardrop Coupe, both of which sold quite well.
