The Quail Brings Style to Monterey Week
“The Quail – A Motorsports Gathering” has become a fixture of Monterey Week, albeit a very restricted one, since the reorganizers have stayed with their aspiration of providing a distinctive experience for only 3,000 people, a number that can fit contentedly on the field at the Quail Lodge and Resort for the day. This exclusivity has made the show very desirable, with tickets sold out months in advance.
On this fashionable Friday, August 15th, the cars were the focus, of course, but an added allure of this show was that each pass holder was entitled to endless food and drink all day long, and all of it expertly prepared, since the owner of The Quail Lodge and Resort is the world-renowned Peninsula Hotel Group.
Ferraris were present, grouped under “The Great Ferraris” and they covered a wide range of models but all were classics in their own right. Some of the newer and “soon to be classics” were seen in other multi-marque classes, such as Post-War Sports, Post-War Racing and Super Cars.
The cars were judged and class winners were eligible for the Major Awards, and Ferraris did well in several of these categories. More information and a complete list of Ferrari entrants will be in Cavallino 203.
