Ferrari Wins Class at Spa 24 Hours
In it’s 90th year, the classic Spa 24 Hours has been won by Audi Belgium WRT with their R8. Overall victory was suspected to be won by one of the PRO teams (professional driver teams) so chances where low for Ferrari to win the title as the 19 entered 458 GT3’s started in PRO-AM and GENTLEMEN. After a race with lots of incidents and even a few drivers being taken to hospital after heavy crashes in the high speed Eau Rouge and Blanchimont corners, the #53 AF Corse Ferrari of Bertolini/Hommerson/Machiels/Cioci wins PRO-AM (fourth in a row for Ferrari) ahead of the #79 Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4. Third in PRO-AM is another Ferrari, the #52 AF Corse of Lowndes/Wyatt/Rugolo/Piccini. These top three PRO-AM cars finished sixth, seventh and eighth in the overall classification. The GENTLEMEN Trophy win goes to of Talkanitsa/Guedes/Mazard/Mann in the #51 AF Corse Ferrari. The #22 Team Parker Audi and #49 AF Corse Ferrari were second and third. In total 4 podium places for a delighted AF Corse team!
